International cooperation
The Faculty of Environmental Protection Technology is actively engaged in both educational and research-based international cooperation. Faculty departments participate in various international projects, provide instruction for foreign students (including exchange stays through the ERASMUS program), support placements within IAESTE, and regularly organize courses as part of the ATHENS program.
ATHENS Courses Regularly Offered by the Faculty:
- Department of Water Technology and Environmental Engineering focuses on advanced water treatment methods and waste management systems.
- Department of Environmental Chemistry specializes in contaminant analysis and environmental monitoring methods.
The Faculty is actively involved in two prestigious international master’s programs IMATEC and IMETE, which provide students with in-depth knowledge in environmental technologies and protection through study at multiple universities across Europe.
IMETE – International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering
IMETE focuses on environmental technologies and engineering, covering key topics such as environmental pollution, wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and circular economy. The program includes specialized courses in water technology.
Students study at three partner universities:
- University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague, Czech Republic)
- IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (Delft, The Netherlands)
- Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium)
Upon completion, students are awarded a joint degree recognized by all three partner institutions.
IMATEC – International Master in Technology and Management for Circular Economy
IMATEC is a two-year master's program focusing on the circular economy and bioeconomy. Students can choose from three major areas of specialization:
- Technology – focused on innovative technical solutions in the circular economy
- Policy and Management – oriented toward strategic management and sustainability policy
- Science – dedicated to research and scientific applications in circular economy topics
The program is jointly offered by three European universities:
- University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague, Czech Republic)
- University of Oviedo (Oviedo, Spain)
- Åbo Akademi University (Turku, Finland)
Graduates of the IMATEC program are awarded multiple degrees, one from each participating university.
